Quand je pense à la France: La Aquitaine: Les Châteaux et Les Fermes

La région en chiffres est constitué de la Aquitaine, la Midi Pyrenees, et la Languedoc-Roussillon. Elle est pres de l'océan Atlantique et frontière de l'Espagne. Aquitaine a une population de 3,049,000 et une area de 41, 308 km2.

Le foie gras et le cassoulet sont deux spécialités de la France. Il est réservé pour occiasons spéciales et est consommé sur du pain grillé ou avec d'autres plats spéciaux. Le cassoulet est un plus populaire plat. En général il est composé d'haricots blancs, de porc, de canard, de sauscisses, et de tomates, avec d'alil et d'herbes aussi.

Le casoulette

La pelote basque est est un jeu que les Mayans, les Grecs, et les Romains ont joué. Le point de jeu est de lancer la pelote (une balle) contre un mur avec la paleta (une raquette) et le chistera (un gant de osier).

Les arènes de Nîmes

Les arènes de Nîmes est un monument populaire. Ils sont inspirées du Colisée de Rome et a tunu plus 20,000 spectateurs. Aujourd'hui, les spectacles musicaux et les corridas remplace les spectacles des gladiateurs.

Ave Maria en l'Occitan

Dans les regions, il y a une riche histoire, qui remonte à l'Antiquité et du Moyen Age. La langue de l'occitan (ou "d'Oc") provient du sud de la France et donné la region de la Languedoc-Roussilon son nomme. Il y a beaucoup poésie lyric de l'occitan qui ont influencé culture française et valeurs et que intellectuels étudient.

Aliénor d'Aquitaine

Long before Marie Antoinette was living luxuriously at Versailles, Eleanor of Aquitaine proved that a Queen could have wield as much power as a King. Eleanor was born in 1122 and was the daughter of the duke and duchess of Aquitaine. She became Queen of France at fifteen when she married King Louis VII in 1137. Despite her rank, Eleanor wasn't afraid to take to the battle field. She led troops to battle alongside her husband during the Second Crusade and nursed the wounded--at the time, a very "un-queenly" thing to do. Ruling over a vast empire, Eleanor was one of the wealthiest and most powerful women of her time. When she failed to produce an heir, Louis had his marriage to Eleanor annulled. Eleanor went on to marry King Henry II of England and serve as regent to her son, King Richard I. A patron to poets and artists, she was the mother of five future monarchs.

La cathédrale Saint-Front, Périgueux, Aquitaine

The Cathedral of St. Front is something of a mystery to archaeologists and historians. The precise date of the original church's construction is not known, but it is believed to be around 1120 AD. The cathedral has the same Greek cross plan as many churches of the time, including the San Marco Cathedral in Venice. A fire destroyed the church that year, but the village rebuilt it in 1350. Over centuries, many architectural additions and changes were made, including the five domes and an extended parish church, which were eventually renovated in the 18th century. Paul Abadie restored Saint-Front in the 19th century after it had survived numerous wars, protests, and revolutions. Today, the cathedral stands an imposing figure over the town of Périgueux, Aquitaine. It is a constant reminder of the presence of the French medieval architecture and history all over Aquitaine.
